Coast Development Authority Board of Directors led by the Chairman Mr. Philip Charo toured CDA projects during a project inspection tour of the region. Among the projects visited were the completed Malindi Social Health Development Programme (MSHDP) phase I and the proposed MSHDP phase II, Mlilo Water Project, Lake Challa Water Project and the Integrated Fruit Processing Plant.

During the visit Hon. Philip Charo, the Chairman of the Committee, expressed his joy on how the projects have been implemented in the region. While touring the Mlilo water project at Voi, Taita Taveta County, the Chairman urged all stakeholders in the project to collaborate with each other to ensure that the project is successfully implemented. He also assured them that once the project is complete, it will put an end to water scarcity in the area and reduce time spent in search of water, while creating opportunities for residents to engage in other productive economic activities.

The board also visited the Integrated Fruit Processing Plant in Tana River and the completed projects in MISHDP-I which include health & educational facilities currently being utilised by residents of Malindi and Magarini. CDA is set to rollout the proposed MISHDP-II which will focus on education, health and infrastructure development aimed at improving the social and economic development of Malindi and Magarini sub-counties.

The Board appreciated the efforts CDA projects contribute towards improving livelihoods of the vulnerable communities through provision of adequate water supply, improving food security and creating more livelihoods opportunities for beneficiaries.
